Old “France” Hotel
Right next to the National Aesthetic Center, a building made of black stone is in its reconstruction process. It was built by a rich and famous family of Rafayelyans during 1880-1900. It is located on Abovyan street, formerly known as Alexandryan which was one of the most beautiful and renovated streets of Alexandrapol city. The building bears the main features of Alexandrapol architecture. It functioned as “France” hotel, then as a city maternity house, then as a State Security Committee Leninakan branch. The building was destroyed during the 1988 earthquake, then was privatized and is currently under construction. In front of this building you can also see the Gyumri Puppet Theatre.
